News Release - TriCounty Upgrades Family Internet Service

TriCounty has upgraded its content filtering service to give parents more control over what sites their children and other members of their family can visit.

“We’ve been offering a filtering service since 2001,” said Dennis Wallace, general manager of TriCounty. “This new family Internet service gives our customers the ability to regulate the sites with their own block lists, block sites for specific times of the day, use Windows to create profiles, and it can be used on up to 3PCs per household.”

Wallace said the new service includes a tamper-proof reporting option that allows parents to view a history of Internet use online or to send a report of the use to any one of three e-mail addresses.

The reports are server based, Wallace said, and attempts to delete them are stopped.
Wallace noted that the U.S. Solicitor General reported in March that 11 million minors visit pornography sites in a typical week – 70 percent by accident.

“Our new ISK will help prevent that,” Wallace said.

Another feature of the service Wallace said is its ability to monitor Internet application like Kazaa, instant messaging and free e-mail.
